Outcomes
Brand the port-city sites physical connection in a past-into-present approach, through the realisation of a port-city site itinerary.
Each site/monument will be presented through a standard heritage panel (60 x 40 cm): it will include possibly a small reference (location) map, with photos and drawings (façades and plans) and a explanation in English and the local languages, included when possible a kind of “short story” (who lined/what happened there) to attract the interest of the visitors.
The other kind of larger heritage panels (120 x 80 cm) will be dedicate to each city and/or urban district presentation and they will be installed at the entrances of the historic core of the port-cities and/or in the waterfronts areas and they will contain Reference map, showing the complete itinerary of the Heritage Trail, Highlight of urban sector and its key monuments, buildings and spaces of historic interest, when possible Historic map of the same sector (showing its evolutions) with the description of the particular district and/or a short presentation of the city and MARE NOSTRUM Project. Each city will have its own logo and possibly colour, but the basic design and dimensions will be the same, thus keeping an homogeneity among all port-cities for the common Mediterranean trail. Particular attention will be put into the valorisation and re-qualification of the waterfront-archaeological sites of each port-city with specific panels to retrace the importance of the water front in the city life and its own foundation. The heritage trail will show also the distribution of the traditional activities, handicrafts between the water fronts and the city core, in order to re-create, when possible, a “handicrafts route” within each city using a unique “brand”.
