Objective

The Mediterranean culture and environment treasures are a key feature of the attractiveness to tourists and they have an important role in the development of the creative and leisure industries.
Since the Mediterranean basin offers a multitude of negative examples of unsustainable tourism growth, it is necessary to improve the quality of its tourist products and move beyond (in a complementary rather than in a substitute manner) the typical 4S (sea, sun, sand and sex) products.
The development of a cultural tourism not only will generate an alternative portfolio of economic activities but also may lead to urban regeneration from an infrastructural, supply side perspective.

  • To design a sustainable tourism plan specifically referred to the action’s new tourist routs within the Mediterranean port-city sites along the Phoenician routes, in a view of heritage trail. To provide a different image of tourism, discovering the history of places and past life, as well as current life, habits and traditions.
  • To enhance the traditional and new handicraft of the sites in a view of recollection and preservation.
